S’mores?
March 3, 2008Who is thinking of making s’mores when there is still snow on the ground? Don’t you just love it when you walk into a room and there is a smell which reminds you of when you were younger. What about how the cold fresh air makes you feel. {Cold, I know
.}
Well, this past weekend my DH went out and bought an eight person tent, we only have four members in our family though, and a new sleepbag for me. The girls informed me, I was the only one without a sleepbag and needed one to go camping.
DH pitched this huge tent smack dab in the middle of our great room and we all camped out Saturday night. Waking up Sunday morning I know why I didn’t have a sleepbag. hehe. I digress. With camping comes campfires (a gas fireplace in our case) and the girls and DH roasted their marshmellows and made s’mores. Now, I did not not have one on Saturday but then we made them again tonight. Before the s’more hit my mouth I could smell the graham cracker and marshmellow, immediately I had thoughts of sitting around a campfire as a child eating these goofy sins. I didn’t think to much about the taste because I was thinking more about my thoughts and how the smore made me feel.
I am always impressed with the way the human mind forgets but then in an instant is flooded with so many memories. Such a wonderful thing, isn’t it!

That sounds like so much fun!
I remember reading that the smell part of your brain is very close to the memory party, so that smells invoke memory easily.
